1.1 The universe
It is now accepted by most scientists that the universe is expanding under the effect of the forces released at the time of the Big Bang as well as the effect of what is described as "Dark Energy". Analysing the radiation left from that explosion they have found that the universe is 13.7bn years old (with an accuracy of + or - 200m years).
